Travel past the Haashof and to the end of the tarred road. Proceed for a short time over the narrow dirt road downhill, until a forest road (Assenweg) branches off to the left. Carry on upward along this road to a fork, keep to the right, and continue up the dirt road that ends in the middle of the high pastures at the Assen hut.
Drive to Saltaus in the Passeiertal, and 500 m after the exit turn right onto the narrow road to Tall. Continue through the hamlets of Prenn and Tall until just before the hamlet of Videgg. There will be limited parking available here.
From the car park in Lana bike uphill on the main road till you reach the Gampen Pass mountain pass. The ascent to the Gampen Pass is 19 kilometres long. The pass road runs continuously along the mountain, rising higher and higher up to the pass with no bends. In this upper stage there are only two noteworthy changes of direction to be negotiated.
Breathtaking views over the Etschtal valley can be enjoyed during the ascent. During the first third of the ascent the route passes through several short tunnels. The descent is via Nalles/Nals, 8 km south of Lana.
The starting point is at the bridge in Töll. Follow the road to Aschbach, past the Unterobereben inn to the mountain station of the Aschbach cable car. At the info point of the Aschbach cable car, turn left onto forest path no. 27A to the intersection with the Stuanbruch trail, continue to “Mahlbach”, Mohlboch trail, follow the road to the left in the direction of Quadrat, past the Gasthaus Brünnl, Gasthaus Niederhof and arrive at the starting point in Töll.

A relaxing cycling path for nature lovers
Length: about 20 km; difference in altitude: about 370 m.
This slightly ascending and largely natural bike path leads from the center of Meran/Merano (the Sissi Statue in Elisabeth Park – Summer Promenade) along the Passer River, and ends in St. Leonhard/San Leonardo. This path does not lead directly through the villages that lie along its route, but cyclists can take a detour into anyone of them.
Please note that the bus line 240 from Meran to St. Leonhard is not equipped for bicycle transport.
Starting point of the cycle path in Merano (the Sissi Statue in Sissi’s Park – Passeggiata d’Estate/Summer Promenade)
Begin at the Lana Tourist Information Office in Andreas Hofer Strasse and ride to Tribusplatz square. There turn left to Falschauer bridge. Follow the signposts to Merano (right) and cross the bridge over the MEBO expressway. Drive on the transregional cycle path towards Merano. In Sinigo follow the signposts for the Vinschgau Valley. After passing the racecourse in Merano turn right. Continue to follow the signs for Vinschgau. (Note: within Merano, the signage is green).
Ride along the right hand bank of the river Etsch to Lagundo. The climb to Tel begins at the swimming baths. At the start and end of the climb there are places to stop for a rest and a drink of water. At the end of the climb you will also be rewarded by a wonderful view. Continue to ride to Tel and cross the main road there, turn right and follow the cycle path to Naturno past the public playground.
Here cross the river and ride along the left bank after approx. 2 km to the Erlebnisbahnhof (adventure railway station) which is reached via the underpass. (Note: the adventure station is only open on Sundays from 2-6 pm from May to the end of October). The return journey is along the same route as far as Sinigo; from there continue towards Bolzano. Just after the exit for Lana, there is a restored locomotive to the right of the rest point that is well worth seeing. Your ride can be concluded with a visit to Lana open air pool.

The bike rentals of “Papin Sport” are located in Mals, Spondinig/Spondigna, Schlanders/Silandro, Latsch/Laces and Meran, while the bike rentals of “Südtirol Rad” are located in Mals (by the water tower at the train station), Naturns (train station) and Meran (Palamainardo). The bike must be returned to the same rental company.
If you want to cover more kilometers, there is the possibility to take the bus line 273 from Mals to Reschen/Resia and to rent a bicycle there from “Papin Sport”. The bike path from Reschen to Mals is about 20 km long with a difference in altitude of about 500 meters.
