Details

Also known as the Trail of Legends, the Dolomites High Mountain Trail No. 2 crosses the Dolomites from north to south. Beginning on the Plose mountain overlooking Brixen, the trail lies on the western Dolomites, running over the Puez-Geisler mountain chain and Sella mountains. There are breathtaking views from the Bindelweg Trail and of the Alpine Marmolada glacier. Passing unusual geological formations and crossing the lesser-known Feltrin Dolomites, trail no. 2 follows the Pala mountain group. Though technically one of the easier high-altitude Dolomitic routes, conditions can sometimes be quite challenging. Due to several steep ascents, hikers require considerable mountaineering experience as well as the necessary equipment when crossing the Marmolada-Scharte ridge. Planning for the long-distance hike is estimated at about two weeks. On the signposts, the route is marked red-white-red and as number 2 in the triangle.
