Details

The Burgweg begins at the valley terminal of the Vellau lift facilities in Mitterplars and crosses the Grabbach after a slight ascent, leading you to the Blumenthalerhof. After the surfaced Ochsentodweg, the path runs almost flat to Castle Thurnstein and ascends via St. Peter to Castle Tirol. Return journey: steep descent via the Brunnenburg or via Dorf Tirol (Gnaidweg) to Gratsch, Algund.

Approach

Coming from Merano drive along the street Josef Weingartner.At the end of the main street, turn right into the street Steinach and follow it to the roundabout. Take the second exit and follow the old country road for a few meters until you can see the car park for the valley station of the chairlift on the right-hand side of the road.
