From the village square in Villanders by car up the Almstraße to the sawmill, now turn left in the direction of Barbian. Park in the village. Then turn right, partly on farm access roads, but mostly on old footpaths through meadow slopes and finally through woods to the large Barbian waterfall (1000 m; from Barbian 0:45 hrs.) With a drop of 85 m, it is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the country. Partly over boulders, partly on a steep path, the trail continues to the upper waterfall (good footwear required).

Descent: Do not return along the ascent path, but always follow the signs to “Barbian” along the old path through woods and meadows down to Barbian.
Walking time: From Barbian village square there and back approx. 2.5 hours.
