The Val Casies Valley has exceptionally many beautiful alpine pastures; most of them offer refreshment opportunities. The Val Casies Valley Almweg 2000 path, as its name suggests, runs at an elevation of 2,000 metres- as is signposted. The pathway offers an expressive view of the entire Val Casies Valley.
Details

From the head of the valley (1460m) in the Val Casies Valley/S. Maddalena continue straight ahead into the valley to the hamlet Rotmoos, follow the trail no. 49 to the mountain huts Messner Hütte (1660m) and Kradorfer Alm (1704m) up to the Oberbergalm (1975m) and further uphill to the Gsieser Törl (2205m). The Val Casies Valley Almweg 2000 path, marked with a red dot, leads from the Gsieser Törl, evenly cross the mountain slopes in a westerly direction to the malga Weißbachalm (2112m) and proceed the driveway downhill to the malga Acherle Alm (1867m) and, finally, via trail number 53 to the starting point.

Approach

Coming from Innsbruck/Brennero (A): Drive on the Highway of Brennero (A22) until the exit Bressanone/Val Pusteria, then go on along the SS49-E66 for about 58kms until you arrive in Monguelfo. To get to Tesido and the Val Casies Valley, we recommend to take the exit West in Monguelfo.

Coming from Lienz (A): You can reach us also padding by Lienz in Westtyrol (A). You have to cross the Austrian-Italian border between Ahrnbach and Winnebach (B100-E66) and drive on the SS46-E66 until Monguelfo. To get to Tesido and the Val Casies, we recommend to take the exit West in Monguelfo.
