When Ignaz Unterthurner founded his distillery on the venerable estate of Priami in Marling near Merano in 1947, his idea was to catch the spirit of the fruits that naturally grow in this mild and sun-spoiled region and refine it for connoisseurs.
Ranging from the traditional “Treber” or grappa from the marc of Lagrein, Gewürztraminer or rose muscatel grapes via quince spirit, rowanberry, raspberry and elder spirit, apricot and currant liqueur, through to wild herb bitter. The product range comprises more than 40 selected distillates.
Experience and rigorous cellerage and distillation techniques are the secret of success. All fruits are fermented until they have reached the optimum maturation point and are discontinuously distilled in copper pot-stills under the watchful eye of the distillation master.
