The village of Pfatten/Vadena is surprising for its position. It extends from Bozen/Bolzano to Kalterer See/Lake Caldaro and is located on the edge of Mitterberg/Monte di Mezzo. Pfatten/Vadena, even if it only has approximately 1,000 people, is fascinating for its small details. Thanks to the ancient tombs from the late Bronze Age and the early Iron Age, the small area is well known in archaeological circles. Worthy of being seen in Pfatten/Vadena are the two castle ruins on Mitterberg/Monte di Mezzo: the ruin of Laimburg which is located on the pass from Laimburg to Kalterer See/Lake Caldaro and the ruins of Leuchtenburg/Castelchiaro that tower above the Caldaro Lake.
