This hike is an easy and family-friendly route which can even be done with a buggy. The Weiher Bruggen pond is one of the attractions: it is a resting place for young and old. Parents can enjoy the view toward the Ifinger mountain whilst children can admire the many fish in the pond.

Details

The easy hike begins at the car park above the Grüner Baum Inn and Das Stübele Restaurant in Vöran/Verano. From here, trail no. 16 ascends at a medium grade up to the Weiher Bruggen pond and continues up to the Leadner Alm Mountain Hut (1,514 m). The return trail leads first to the Waldbichl Mountain Restaurant and continues to the frazione (community) of Aschl/Eschio and back to the starting point at the car park.

Variations: One variation of the hike heads from the village car park in Hafling/Avelengo towards the Avelina Restaurant along trail no. 16 gently ascending to the Leadner Alm. Total walking time, there and back, is about 2 hours 30 minutes.

Approach

Coming from both directions of the freeway Meran/Merano – Bolzano/Bozen (MEBO), take the exit of Meran Süd/Merano Sud and follow directions towards Meran first, to then turn right towards Hafling/Avelengo, follow the street to Vöran/Verano – the parking place is located above Grüner Baum Restaurant and Das Stübele Restaurant.
