Far from the commotion of the skiing areas, this winter walk leads over the Puflatsch mountain to the north of the Seiser Alm and over shimmering white landscape, and boasts spectacular views: The Schlern, the Langkofel and Plattkofel are forever in view, and from the Engelsrast (Eng: “Angel’s Rest”)right beside the mountain station of the Puflatsch cable car you can see the Ortles range and the Stubai, Ötztal and Zillertal glaciers.  

Details

From the Seiser Alm cable car mountain station in Compatsch, the trail leads up to the Dibaita Puflatsch hut and on to the Puflatsch mountain station. If you prefer, you can save yourself this gain and take the Telemix Puflatsch up. The Engelsrast (Angels’ Rest) panorama platform, very close to Bullaccia mountain station, offers outstanding views over the Ortles region, the Stubai and Zillertal glaciers. The loop-route leads over a wide snow-trail on to the Filln cross, the Arnika hut and past the Dibaita Puflatsch hut back to Compatsch.

Approach

The start and end point of this tour is Compatsch on the Seiser Alm. To get here, take the Seiser Alm cable car or with line 10 from Seis am Schlern via Kastelruth. Parking facilities are available at the valley station of the Seiser Alm car.

The road to the landscape conservation area Seiser Alm is closed to private traffic from 9.00am to 5.00pm. During this time you can get to the Seiser Alm by the Seiser Alm cable carr from Seis or by bus from Kastelruth. You can descend from Compatsch at any time.
