From the parking lot at Kratzegg Hof farm, the forest road rises up the hardly appreciable slope, through the valley to Ulfaser Alm mountain pasture. At the mountain hut, the shaded Waalweg trail continues comfortably through spruce and larch forests to a clearing, and provides a clear view to the underlying Val Passiria/Passeiertal Valley. On the edge of the road is a cultivated Waalerhütte mountain hut built from wood. Lying down, you can hear the Waalschelle bell, in a constant rhythm, where the water flows freely. Halfway through, after being separated for a short time, the Waalweh trail rejoins the stream.
