Bringing people close to nature…this is the aim of the nature experience path in Sand in Taufers. The circular path is about 3 to 4 miles long and was partially financed by the village of Sand in Taufers and the Department for Natural Parks. Its logo is a squirrel, which accompanies the hiker from one station to the next. Many themes are touched upon: nature, fauna, flora, geology, mythology, legends, myths….. Interesting ideas such as a look-out platform make this round-trip trail even more attractive. The Adventure Path for a Healthy Community will be built or accordingly expanded as part of a theme trails’ project in the autumn of 2015.

Details

Path description The path begins at the town square in Campo Tures: start by heading north and turn right after 50 metres. Cross the river and walk along the bank until you reach the entrance to the castle promenade. From there, the trail begins uphill on the right-hand side. It leads under the Old Custom’s Gate and continues on a gravel road. At the end of this road, you pass Tures/Taufers Castle, which is worth stopping to see.The educational nature trail continues past the castle to the northeast, where you’ll find a wonderful view over the entire Valle di Tures. After about 45 minutes in the coolness of alder and willow trees, you finally reach the new Cascade pool complex: you’ve earned a relaxing break at this innovatively built centre. From there, you’ll cross meadows and fields, reaching the starting point again after about half an hour: the refreshing “goose” fountain at the town hall.
