From Kasern via the Starkl Alm to Prettau…
There are various ridgeways on the sunny valley side of Prettau and Kasern. The most well-known is the Lausitzer path, which leads out of the valley at an altitude of 2,500 m. Less exhausting, and situated about 500 m lower, there is the route leading from Kasern up to the Starkl Alm, continuing on the forest road and then descending to Prettau. The views of the impressive glaciers of the Zillertal Alps and the High Tauern mountains make this route especially rewarding. As we climb up the mountain, the mighty Rauchkofel awaits us, and we let our eyes wander to the symbolical land- mark of Dreiherrenspitze (3,499 m) with its peak covered in snow.
