The Firenze hut, which was built in 1888 is the most ancient hut of Val Gardena. It is situated in a central position, therefore it is the perfect starting point for hikes to the Odle or the Gruppo del Puez. Whereas the Firenze hut is located at the border of the Cisles Alpe, the Puez hut was constructed on the meagre Puez plateau.

Details

The tour start from the Firenze hut follow the path n.2/3, through a small grassy valley over a rising pasture and we follow the path n.2 and reach across a boulder-covered shelf the steep Forcella “Siëles”. To the left, across a weathered ridge, fixed ropes which is the traverse to the hilly Puezalpe, continuing the path we arrive to the Puez hut. Follow the path n.14 which begins below the hut. The path drops across a notch in the rock formation of the Puezalpe down into Vallunga.

Approach

The starting point Rifugio Firenze offers accommodation and is located at 20 walking minutes from the top station of the Col Raiser cable car. The valley station of the cable car is located in the municipality of Selva Gardena, but is not far from the centre of S. Cristina and can be reached by internal shuttle buses or by car (chargeable parking on site).
