This moderate hike to the summit leads from the Kühhof farm past the Klausner Hütte mountain hut and on to the shelter at the Latzfonser Kreuz summit cross with the highest pilgrimage church in the Alps. The ascent to the Kassianspitze is a thrilling experience for kids who love the mountains.
Details

The hike starts at the Kühhof car park (1,550 m) above Latzfons/Lazfons beneath the wide Kühbergalm and Feldthurner Alm pastures.

Head northwest on forest trail no. 1 over the open Alpine meadows passing through sparse larch and pine forests to the Klausner Hütte mountain hut (1,920 m). Continue along trail no. 1 passing the Rungger Hütten huts and Plankenbach brook. Also known as the Kreuzweg (Way of the Cross), the trail then crosses a pine forest before winding its way up a steep slope to the pilgrimage church and mountain shelter at Latzfonser Kreuz (2,311 m).

Continue up trail no. 9, initially climbing steeply to the west before veering northwards as it passes the Gampmaul mountain basin through rocky terrain. Finally, the route leads to the Kassiansee mountain lake (2,469 m) and the Kassianspitze summit (2,581 m) slightly beyond.

The return is back the same way as the ascent.
