The circular hike starts in Via Pietralba in Laives/Leifers, past the hotel “Grüner Baum”, following hiking trail no. 11 on the left. The steep path, which crosses the newly laid out Via Montelargo several times, leads through shady bush forest in about 1.5 hours to the beautiful Steiner farm (710 m). A wonderful panoramic view over Laives/Leifers and the South Tyrolean lowlands rewards the effort of the ascent. On the now easily accessible road no. 11, which leads through extensive forests along the Tschuegg river, you reach the Wölfl farm (1290 m) after about 1.5 hours of ascent. From here, trail no. 12 takes you in about 40 minutes to the mountain village of Nova Ponente/Deutschnofen (1355 m).

From the village square in Nova Ponente/Deutschnofen, follow the long but very pleasant path no. 5 downhill to the Unterkirchbach district and on into the Brantental valley. From there it goes down back to Laives/Leifers.

Alternatively, you can also take the bus line 180 back to Bolzano/Bozen and the lines 110, 111 or 112 back to Laives/Leifers (total duration approx. 1.5 hours).
