We start with anticipation of the valley of Schlinig, at the train station in Mals via the centre to Schleis (1,075 m). There we turn left up to the Polsterhof, with the view at the Benedictine abbey Marienberg, riding shortly afterwards on the forest road along the creek Melzbach and swichting between woods and meadows until Schlinig (1,725 m). We benefit in hot summer days from the cool nothern slope side.We pass through the small village Schlinig and the, beyond of it lying, biathlon facility which is training place of some professional athletes. Searching for rewarding food of the Venosta Valley we can imagine our target on a small hill. Crossing the bridge after the wood and then we reach the worth seeing alp Schlinig after some minutes. A short walk back into the high valley is very worthwhile.Downwards we cycle on the same way or along the main road of Schlinig passing the abbey Marienberg across Burgeis to Schleis.Tip: Popular destination particularly on the weekend. Also a winter holiday is rewarding: fabulous for cross-country skiing and hiking in winter.
