Circular hike via Mühlenweg and Grissiano
Tesimo - Prissiano, Merano & Surroundings
Description
Varied hike along the “Mühlenweg” to Grissiano/Grissian
Details

Starting from the car park in Prissiano centre follow the road parallel to the stream steeply uphill following the signs for “Oberer Wiesenweg” until the highest point, which offers excellent views over the entire municipal area. Here turn left, following trail no. 13, past the Tirolerhof and then continue on to Castel Zwingenburg. Now turn left, remaining in the Prissiano valley, along the Mühlenweg. The broad, gently undulating forest track leads first of all down to the stream and then either side of the stream gently uphill past two ruined and two renovated mills. After a bridge, turn left onto trail 7B past farms to trail no. 7 and on this continue left on what is mainly a well-maintained forest track towards Grissiano. Just before the hamlet of Grissiano turn right to forest trail no. 7A to the Romanesque church of St. Jakob on an idyllic hillside – well worth visiting. Now follow the forest track created as a “contemplative trail on the seven sacraments”, with light-flooded pillars by the glass artist, Christoph Gabrieli from Tesimo, down to Grissiano. At the fire station and the Schmiedlhof (refreshment stop), the Waldsteig begins, which first of all leads briefly uphill and past the Grissianerhof (refreshment stop), then downhill through lovely woodland. After approx. 25 minutes turn right onto forest track 15A to the approach road to Grissiano and then left on the road for a few metres. Now turn right onto trail 12A to the Grosskemathof and afterwards on a narrow tarmac road past Castel Wehrburg. Once you reach the main road turn left over the stone bridge back into the centre of Prissiano.
