Considered one of the most spectacular in the Alps, the Parcines waterfall cascades down the rock face from a height of almost 100 m. It is particularly impressive in early spring with the melting of snow, when as many as 6,000 liters of water per second flow into the Zielbach torrent.

 

Details

A day excursion to the Partschins water falls in the North-West of Algund: Take path # 7 from the dairy in Algund in the direction of Mitter- and Oberplars until you come to Saxner mill. Turn left in the direction of Partschins. Then walk from Gasthof Niedermair along the Partschins irrigation channel road to the Ziel Valley, using path # 8 until you come to the birch wood forest. There, take path # 8 towards the Gasthof Wasserfall or turn left along the Zielbach until you ascend to the water falls. Return journey: from Partschins, take path P to Oberplars, then path # 7 to Mitterplars and the centre of Algund.

Approach

Via the Adige Valley, take the MeBo expressway to the Algund exit and follow in the center. Coming from Vinschgau, Algund is just before Merano.
