The High Altitude Trail Neves – high above the lake Neves in Lappago-Lappach! The trail connects the two mountain refuges Ponte di Ghiaccio/Edelraut Hütte (2,545 m) and Giovanni Porro/Chemnitzer Hütte (2,419 m).

The hike is rated intermediate for level of difficulty and offers unforgettable moments. The tour requires experience, not to suffer from vertigo, sure-footedness, physical fitness as well as suitable equipment.

Details

The hike starts at the lake Neves in Lappago-Lappach. You can start out in either direction: on the path nr. 26 towards the refuge Ponte di Ghiaccio/Edelraut or on the path nr. 24 to refuge Porro/Chemnitzer Hütte. The high altitude trail starts then from the huts on trail nr. 1, which leads over glacial moraine and lonely stone cirques through the glacial landscape of 3,000-metre-plus peaks (Punta Bianca/Weißzint, Grande Mesule/Möseler and Cima di Campo/Turnerkamp) of the main ridge of the Zillertal Alps. The Alta Via di Neves is shorter than many other trails in the region—but also one of the most beautiful.

Huts: mountain refuge Ponte di Ghiaccio/Edelraut Hütte or mountain refuge Giovanni Porro/Chemnitzer Hütte

The tour is possible also in the opposite direction.
