The romanesque church St.Jakob on the Langfenn is positioned on the most visible and on the highest point of the Salto (1525m). The church stands on prehistoric ground and could tell us probabely many interesting and exciting historical things. On the altar we can see Saint Jakob, the protector of all hikers, and on his side the two Patrons of the pest, Rochus and Sebastian..

Details

If you start at Meltina, take the hiking trail no. 4. This way leads to the parkingplace Schermoos, from where you can take path no. 1, which leads to Langfenn and the small church St. Jakob.  Now you have 2 optiones: go directly to the church or walk on the church or reach your aim on the circular path.

Duration:

  • Direct way – 1:20 h
  • with circular path – 2:10 h

Optionaly you could take on half way of path no. 4 the walking path no. 6, which leads you as well to the circular path Langfenn and in 1:40 h to S. Jackob. Otherwise this could be your way back to Meltina.

Approach
If you come by car from Brennero, take the motorway A22 until the exit “Bozen Süd”. Here you can take the highway MeBo in direction to Merano (SS38) until you reach the exit of Terlano. At Terlano begins the mountain road to Mölten. You can also take the MEBO exit of Vilpiano and take the cable car to Schlaneid / Mölten.
