The Lake Carezza in Val d’Ega is famous because of its beautiful colors and therefore it is often called Lec de Ergobando – Rainbow Lake. It is 300 metres long and 140 metres wide. The Lake Carezza is fed by underground springs from the Latemar, which is why its size and depth are heavily influenced by the season and the weather – so don’t worry, the Lake Carezza will not dry up. The lake is a protected natural landmark – therefore it is important to treat it with respect and not to exceed the protection limits, so the beauty of this special lake will remain for a long time.

Middle circular route at Lake Carezza! Green signs – starting point: Car park Lake Carezza, suspension bridge and path [6] steeply up (direction Passo Costalunga). Cross the road at the Pension Simhild, turn right and continue on path [10] to Lake Carezza. You may also take a walk around the lake and then return to the starting point.

Approach

Take highway´s exit “Bolzano Nord/Eggental”, turn right direction Bolzano/Bozen, after about 0,5 km on roundabout keep left and head towards Val d’Ega (SS 241). Keep driving up to Ponte Nova. At Ponte Nova’s crossroads, turn to the left and continue to the Lake Carezza (about 30 min. from highway toll booth).

After you have paid at the pay machine, you have 15 minutes to leave the parking lot.
