The starting point is the Vernago/Vernagt car park (limited parking places).The circuit around the lake begins below the little church in Vernago/Vernagt. The trail around the reservoir, created in the 1950s, leads through a pasture with lamas and over the Schnalser Bach stream (suspension bridge) to the end of the lake and returns via the other bank through the forest and over the dam wall back to the starting point.

Tip: the church in Vernago has an information board about the reservoir’s construction with historical pictures.Attention: in spring there is a danger of avalanche in the shadowy side of the lake, even when the lake trail itself is free of snow.
