Laranz Loop Route
Castelrotto, Alpe di Siusi
Description
This leisurely walk through the Laranza forest is pure idyllic perfection for hikers: fresh, woody air, a Dolomite panorama and a view fit for a king from the Königswarte (“King’s Keep“), far and wide over the Eisack Valley and the Ritten plateau.
Details

The walk begins in Telfen. After the sports centre, you proceed along a tarred road which leads shortly afterwards to a dirt road around the Laranz forest. The views over Seis and the Schlern are spectacular along this stretch of road, which takes you through meadows and up to the Ansitz Laranz country manor on the edge of the wood. The Laranza loop route takes you through coniferous woods to a somewhat unusual panoramic point known as the Königswarte (“King’s Vantage Point”). Named after the King Frederick Augustus of Saxony, who cherished this view during his sojourns in Seis, this box-seat lookout offers incredible views down into the Eisack Valley and across to the Ritten Plateau. Following onwards, the route leads gently up and down through the coniferous woodland until you reach a tarred road which will take you past vast meadows and a few farms back to your set-off point in Telfen, accompanied by views over Kastelruth.
