Selva Gardena is located at the end of the valley surrounded by the rich flora and fauna of the Dolomites. The Unesco World Heritage peaks watch over this charming village, an excellent meeting place for families, as well as a starting point for sports and outdoor activities. There are several oppurtunities for hiking and climbing, for exciting descents in the Dolomiti Superski area, for adventurous rock and ice climbs, for mountain biking and snowshoeing. All year round, Selva Gardena offers a comprehensive range of carefully planees activities to make you experience unforgettable moments in the mountains.

Details

Start from Daunëi and follow the Via Crucis, running at the bottom of the Stevia, to the S. Silvestro chapel in the Vallunga valley. One of the oldest walks in Val Gardena with its very own 15 stations of the Passion of Christi. These were carved from tree trunks in 1983 by local artisans and artists. The ruins of the castle Wolkenstein loom halfway through the walk and, during summer, are well worth a visit. After all, we are talking of the main residence of the Wolkenstein – Trostburg royal house, whose origins hail back to the 13th century.

Approach

The walk starts at “Daunëi” about 1km above the Nives Square.
