The “Katzenleiter” path is made up of about 550 steps cut out from the rock and leads along the impressive Rio Nero gorge until Aldino. From the porphyry slabs near the gorge you can admire a breathtaking view of the famous waterfall. On the way, the many viewpoints offer magnificent vistas over the wine village of Ora.
Details

The walk’s starting point is Ora’s main square. From Via Truidn you arrive in Church Square, and passing the church of Santa Maria on your right, you find yourself in the road to the waterfall. The red and white markings lead to the foot of the mountain. Here the Katzenleiter path begins (path no. 1), which owes its name (which literally means “cats’ ladder”) and its special charm to its 550 rock steps. The trail continues through some mountain farms until you reach the road to Aldino. You can either catch the bus back to Ora, take the path you came along (no. 1) or go back along path 1A.

Approach

highway exit A22 Egna; 3 km direction Ora; take the via Val di Fiemme; after 200 meter on the right side enter to the free parking Sportzone Schwarzenbach.
