Easy stroll around Lake Caldaro. Gentle incline. If you wish to avoid one of the uphill climbs, we recommend you start the circular trail heading towards the south. However, nothing stops you from heading in the opposite direction. Tip: The straight stretch in the southern part of the excursion is ideal for interval running or sprints. We recommend you take this excursion during the morning.

Head off from the starting point southbound, coast the campsite until you’re on the farm road. Stick to it until you’ve reached the small parish church of San Giuseppe al Lago. Here, cross the road and continue on the pavement onto the other farm road (Schweigeregg) until you’re on the wine road. Cross the Wine Road, follow the farm road until it becomes an asphalt road (Kuchlweg), take a left and continue walking on the Kuchlweg towards Klughammer in the eastern part of the valley. (If you’re looking for an alternative, we recommend you take a detour from the Kuchlweg onto the nature experience trail which will lead you across the biotope of Lake Caldaro on wooden footbridges). Take a left and, after a couple of metres, take a right onto the forest track above the road and follow it until the Weiler Klughammer. Shortly after that, take a left (signpost no. 3), walk by the Seehotel, and follow the road until San Giacomo, keeping to the western side of the lake. Take a left, and walk by the Geier Guesthouse until you return to the starting point.

TIP: Why not take a refreshing plunge into Lake Caldaro on those warm days? Nature lovers should take a break in the biotope or at the raised hide on the southern side of Lake Caldaro to admire the rich flora and fauna in the protected natural area.
