Hike around La Costa/Seit
Laives, Bolzano & Environs

Details

You start this hike at the Rechtebner inn on La Costa/Seit and follow path no. 12A, which then changes to no. 12. You will pass the St. Heinrich chapel and change to path no. 3, which leads you over a short stretch of asphalt road past the farm Rutterhof and on to the farm Köhlhof. From there, follow the path marked no. 3A, which ends at the Schneiderwiesen inn. After a short break you continue on the paths no. 5, 5A and 5B to the “Titschenwarte” lookoutpoint from where you have a wonderful panoramic view of the Eggental valley and the surrounding mountains. Continue along path 5B, which then changes to path 1B and leads to the “Rotwand” vantage point, from where you have a panoramic view of Laives/Leifers and the surrounding villages. Continuing along gravel path no. 1B, which then becomes 1A, you turn off at the farm Spörlhof (which is located in the municipality of Nova Ponente/Deutschnofen) and follow markings no. 12 and 12A back to the Rechtebner inn.

Approach

Coming from the south: Take the highway exit “Egna/Ora/Termeno-Neumarkt/Auer/Tramin” and follow the signs “Bolzano/Laives-Bozen/Leifers” for approx. 15 km. Drive through the tunnel of Laives/Leifers and then take the first exit, which leads to the roundabout of Pineta/Steinmannwald. Follow the signs for “La Costa/Seit” on an initially steep, then serpentine road for about 10 minutes (5 km). Then turn right to get to the Rechtebner inn. 

Coming from the north:Take the highway exit “Bolzano Sud/Bozen Süd” and then follow the signs for “Trento/Laives – Trient/Leifers” for approx. 10 km. After the tunnel connecting Bolzano/Bozen and Laives/Leifers at the roundabout in Pineta/Steinmannwald, follow the signs for “La Costa/Seit” on an initially steep, then serpentine road for about 10 minutes (5 km). Then turn right to get to the Rechtebner inn.
