The idyllic Gampenalm (also called Gompmalm), is a place where concerts by well-known musicians are regularly held in summer, and is also a very popular destination for mountain bikers. The mountain meadows, which invite visitors for a longer getaway, along with good South Tyrolean cuisine, make the alp a sought-after day destination for the active tourist.

Details

From the artisan district, follow the narrow and sometimes steep tarred road toward Tall. In a sharp right bend (small bridge), just before reaching the hamlet of Prenn (middle station of the Hirzer cable car), turn left (signs “Hochwies” and “Wiesbauer”). Continue up the road until the beginning of the forest road is reached which leads to Gompmalm.

Approach

Head to Saltaus in Passeiertal, and approximately 500 m after leaving the village, turn right over a bridge into the artisan district (road signs Schweinsteg and Tall). There is limited parking in the artisan area.
