One of the most beautiful stages of the European long-distance hiking trail E5 runs across the Meraner Land, over the altopiano del salto to Bolzano. The section between Avelengo, Verano, Meltina, San Genesio at about 2000 meters above sea level offers wonderful long-distance views over the Dolomites, the Texel Group and the Sarentino. The altopiano del salto sections are classified as non-dangerous and accessible all year round. Entry possibilities in Meltina, at the pascolo and at the altopiano del salto.
 

Details

From the Schermoos parking lot, follow the E5 to Edelweiss Jenesien, or from the Schermoos parking lot, follow the E5 to Hafling.

Approach
If you come by car from Brennero, take the motorway A22 until the exit “Bozen Süd”. Here you can take the highway MeBo in direction to Merano (SS38) until you reach the exit of Terlano. At Terlano begins the mountain road to Mölten. From Meltina continue by car to the Schermoos parking lot.
