From the Hotel Hohe Gaisl on the Plätzwiese High Plateau you continue along the path over to the Dürrensteinhütte Hut. The path to the Strudelkopf/Monte Specie is sign posted after the hut; it has no number and ends on the saddle of the Strudelkopf/Monte Specie, where there are several signposts. Climb briefly upwards to the right in the direction of the Strudelkopf/Monte Specie (you can see the summit cross) to the next signpost that indicates the descent to Landro in the Höhlensteintal Valley. The summit cross offers a fantastic 360-degree view of the main Alpine ridge and the Dolomites. Directly next to it is the World Heritage Terrace, etched into steel to describe the magnificent panorama. The long descent into the valley ends near the Three Peaks viewpoint (GEOSTOP S). Cross the main road to the car park and follow Path no. 102 into the Rienztal Valley. Soon you reach a fork where you take Path no. 102 straight ahead. Go past two turnoffs, keeping on the dirt road, and walk through the Rienztal Valley until the steeper climb up to the plateau of the Three Peaks begins. Zigzag upwards, passing a turnoff, until the path joins the narrow dirt road that leads to the Dreizinnenhütte Hut. Continue right for a short distance and at the next fork climb up to the Dreizinnenhütte Hut.
You start at the Hotel Hohe Gaisl on the Plätzwiese High Plateau and follow the wide path until you reach the Dürrensteinhütte Hut. Behind the hut you can see the hike path leading on the mountain Strudelkopf/ Monte Specie. The path has no path number, but it is well signposted. Once you arrive on the mountain saddle you can already see the summit cross which you will reach in about 20 minutes (along the way: GEOSTOP R). On the top you enjoy a stunning panorama and at the world heritage viewing platform you find an explanation of all the great mountain peaks around you. Then the markers show you the way to Landro. The long descent ends near the viewpoint “Vista Tre Cime” (GEOSTOP S). You cross the main street to reach the parking area, there you follow the hike path no. 102 towards the Dreizinnenhütte Hut. You hike through the valley Valle della Rienza until the hike path becomes steeper and leads to the plateau of the Three Peaks of Lavaredo. After some steep serpentines you arrive to a fork where you go upwards and within a short time you finally reach the Dreizinnenhütte Hut.
