It is a wonderful hike, the one that leads via the Burg and Ochsentodweg to Thurnstein Castle and further to Tirol Castle.You can already feel the Mediterranean climate here.This hike is also suitable for families.
Details

The hike starts at the valley station of the Vellau chairlift in Mitterplars. You follow the  Burgweg path # 20 until you reach the Caffee Conrad. Now you continue walking until you reach the Blumenthalerhof. There begins the paved Ochsentodweg path # 29, which leads us slightly uphill to Thurnstein Castle and further along the asphalt road to St. Peter to Castle Tirol.Return journey: steep descent via Brunnenburg or via Dorf Tirol (Gnaidweg) to Gratsch and via the Algunder Waalweg back to the starting point.

Approach

Via the Adige Valley, take the MeBo expressway to the Algund exit. Coming from Vinschgau, Algund is just before Merano.
