One of the most beautiful hikes in Alta Badia and the Dolomites: Untouched nature, vertical walls soaring skywards which turn red at sunset, a breathtaking view which extends on one side over Badia’s green valley and, on the other the legendary landscape of the Fanes alp, the characteristic Dolomite flora, marmot squirrels and chamoix goats, all combine to make this a truly unforgettable walk.

Details

From Badia ascend with chair lift and cable car to the La Crusc/S.Croce sanctuary (2045 m). From here, take trail nr. 7 and head east then turn south and pass through the groups of mugo pines and scree, reaching the rocky slopes. Steel cables are there to help to get over the precipices. The hike continues rapidly gaining height, climbing over ledges and scree-covered slopes until you reach the Ju dla Crusc ridge (2598 m) (1h 30min.). At this point, leave path nr. 7 heading left along the ridge. Follow trail nr. 7B right up to the highest point of the tour, the peak Le Ciaval (2907 m) (2h 35min.). From here, you can enjoy an awesome panorama out over the entire world of the Dolomites. The return is on the same path down to the ridge. Proceed on trail nr. 7 to the east towards Fanes. After 200 m, continue on trail nr. 12B towards the Forcela de Medesc notch (2533 m) (1h 30min.). From here, follow westwards trail nr. 12 down to the Val de Medesc valley. After the first extremely steep section over scree, the walk continues pleasantly through woods, meadows and pastures, skirting farms and little villas until you come to the village of La Villa (2h 30min.).
