A pleasant hike through high-altitude woods and alpine meadows with a beautiful panoramic view. Accompanied by typical mountain-meadows overgrown with special flowers and herbs, but also walking through woods, the hikers have the possibilities to stop off at one of the three huts to taste the typical south tyrolean food.

Details

The hike starts from the church plaza in Weissenstein and continues on Trail [15] to the Pichlwiese. Continue on Trail [E5] to the Köser Valley, to the Laneralm, an along Trail [G] until you come to the Schmiederalm and Schönrastalm. Via the Pichlwiese and on Trail [15], you can return to the Maria pilgrimage church in Weissenstein.

 

Approach

On the Brenner (A 22 Brenner autobahn – toll), take the Bozen Nord/Eggental (Eggen Valley) autobahn exit and proceed approx. 0.5 km towards Bozen/Bolzano. At the roundabout, turn left into the Eggen Valley (SS 241). Continue along the Dolomites Road until you come to Birchabruck. There, turn right and proceed to Deutschnofen / Nova Ponente (30 minutes from the Bozen Nord/Eggental autobahn exit). At the roundabout in Deutschnofen, take the third exit towards Petersberg. After 6 km, turn left and follow the street to Maria Weissenstein.
