The Fleckner summit is one of the easiest beginner mountains in the Ratschingstal/Val Racines. The safe snow conditions, the slightly to moderate slopes on the northern hillside and the relatively short ascent make the Fleckner a popular mountain for alpine touring ski starters.

Details

Along the forest road in a pleasant slope in a zigzag course or steeper straight through the forest. Climb up through the wood and across the trail to the tree line, where the view opens over the wide snow slope. Passing a mountain hut on the right side and diagonally up to the long valley and up to the saddle between the Fleckner and Saxner summits. On the left side you reach the Fleckner summit (2331 m).

Approach

From the motorway exit A22 in Sterzing/Vipiteno direction west to Stange/Stanghe and Ratschings/Racines. In Stange turn left into the Ratschingstal and follow the road towards valley end. At the valley station of the Ratschings-Jaufen skiing area continue towards Flading/Vallettina. As soon as the road drops off, a forest trail starts on the left. This is the starting point of the tour.
