The elevated promenade is very sunny and offers magnificent views over Merano/Meran and Burgraviato/Burggrafenamt.
The Tappeinerweg trail was endowed by Franz Tappeiner, a doctor and tourism pioneer from Vinschgau valley, who did much for the reputation of Merano as a spa town. This walk goes from the Gilf Promenade over the slope of the Küchelberg ridge to Quarazze/Gratsch. In addition to the local plants, lush Mediterranean vegetation and exotic plants can be seen. The Tappeinerweg trail is suitable as a Nordic Walking trail with numerous access points: via the Tiroler Steig (staircase), in Via Galilei street (near the valley station in Tirolo/Dorf Tirol) or via the Schlehdorfsteig trail in Via Verdi street. Additional access points include the Gilf Promenade or on the right side of the Steinerner Steg bridge. There are numerous refreshment stops en route.
Bus connections: line 236, Merano-Tappeinerweg-Thurnstein or City line 3 (Stop: Martinsbrunn).
