The Pinàzweg Trail up to Elvas
Bressanone, Eisack Valley & Wipp Valley
Description
This circular hike on the Pinàzweg Trail crosses over the sunny slopes of Brixen/Bressanone to Elvas. Although the trail remains open all year round, it is especially popular in springtime, when the fruit trees are in bloom, as well as in autumn.
Details

Pinàzweg Trail no. 1 leads uphill from Stufels in Brixen and north along the roughly paved Schlipfgasse lane. Cross the main road twice before turning right and then climb east along the dirt road to the Guggerhof tavern. Continue uphill through the orchards on the Pinàzweg (trail no. 1) followed by a flat stretch of road across the fields and woods towards Pinàzhügel hill, or Pinazbichl to the west. If possible, turn left to the lookout point – which is a worthwhile detour. A stone illustrated with small bowls and signs was discovered on the ancient Pinàtzhügel hill near Elvas. Legend has it that it is an ancient, mystic fertility stone. From there, the trail leads to Elvas (824 m).

The return to Brixen is back along trail no. 10 (later changing to no. 15) via Neustift/Novacella Oberdorf.
