Hike over the refuge Tierser Alpl Mountain Hut to the refuge Schlernhaus
Alpe di Siusi, Alpe di Siusi
Description
The long tour on the Schlern boasts spectacularly impressive views of the unique Dolomite panorama. A fossilised coral reef and, as legend would have it, the gathering place of the Schlern witches, the Schlern is the symbol of the Dolomites.
Details

The hike begins at the mountain station of the Seiser Alm cableway and leads through the Alpine meadows of the Seiser Alm to the foot of the Rosszähne mountains before snaking upwards to the pass of the Forcella Rosszahnscharte. Below the Rosszähne, the path leads on to our first destination, the Refuge Tierser Alpl mountain hut.

The walk then takes us below the Roterdspitze peaks, at first slightly downhill and after just a few steps, up a fairly steep slope to the high plateau. And now it’s just an easy walk to the Sciliar/Schlern. Good walkers in peak physical condition can opt to head up the Petz. This is the highest point of the Schlern, where you will find sweeping views from the Seiser Alm over to the Langkofel, Plattkofel and the nearby Rosengarten.

The route back is along the trail no. 1 which leads downhill over the north slopes of the Schlern.

Approach

The road to the landscape conservation area Seiser Alm is closed to private traffic from 9.00am to 5.00pm. During this time you can get to the Seiser Alm by the Seiser Alm cable car from Seis or by bus from Kastelruth. You can descend from Compatsch at any time.
